As most people connected with the property market are aware, the new minimum energy standard for landlords(MEES) came into effect on the 1st of April 2018. This requires all landlords to have a minimum of an E rating for EPC’s. Without this they can not legally renew an existing tenancy agreement or issue a new tenancy agreement. There can be an exemption , or at least a “Stay of execution” to this if the landlord requests a Green Deal Advice Report. There are many companies that can carry out these GDARs Nationwide and these will facilitate a five year exemption from the MEES.

Currently very few people in the UK know about this legislation despite it now being law. Furthermore there are even fewer firms authorised to carry out and lodge these reports.
